About the Project
Our relationship with Anne Arundel Health System began in the early 1990’s when CRGA was selected to undertake the renovation of the old Anne Arundel Medical Center, which was located in Annapolis’ Historic District. The project was ultimately abandoned when, in 1997, it was decided that a new replacement hospital would be constructed on AAHS’ Jennifer Road Campus in Parole. CR Goodman Associates (formerly WGMA) was awarded this project and began by developing a new master plan for the campus, integrating new parking garages, a replacement hospital (Acute Care Pavilion) and a new ambulatory care facility (Sajak Pavilion) onto the site, while reserving a large area for future expansion. These new facilities opened in 200/2001 and we immediately began working on expansion plans for the campus. Since that time, we have worked with Anne Arundel Medical Center to design all of their projects including the JoAnn and Geaton DeCesaris Cancer Institute, an addition to the Clatanoff Pavilion to support a new women’s unit, the new Health Sciences Pavilion and a new addition to the Acute Care Pavilion. A new rooftop helipad was designed for the Acute Care Pavilion and two pedestrian bridges were designed to allow patients, families and staff to easily travel between the east and west campuses. Four parking structures were also added to accommodate vehicular traffic on campus.
During this twenty-year relationship, we have completed numerous renovation projects on campus and have designed all of their off-site facilities including the Kent Island Medical Center. CRGA also completed the fit-out of both the Bowie and Waugh Chapel ambulatory care facilities. Our firm has also been responsible for the design of all of their Anne Arundel Diagnostic imaging centers.
We feel that teamwork, our ability to listen to their needs and develop practical solutions integrating their goals and ideas into our designs has been the secret to the long-term relationship that we have built and continue to maintain with Anne Arundel Health System.
